H2S - Elimination
Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless, highly toxic, highly flammable and - corrosive gas which smells of rotten eggs. Due to the anaerobic conditions in pressure lines, the sulphate in wastewater is reduced to sulphide or hydrogen sulphide. This leads to the development of the smell and to damage from corrosion. VTA products for elimination of sewer gas (H2S): VTA Dolomin VTA EB 77 VTA 15-40 SB VTA products to prevent manure gas (H2S):
Sewage sludge disintegration
Within the last decades, the wastewater treatment technique was predominantly concerned with the improvement of the biological purification performance in water treatment plants. In many areas, these measures have been completed. The focus for the future will be on the economical optimization of the plant. International studies prove that more than 50% of the existing digestion plants work insufficiently and show bad results. This has numerous causes which are often not investigated. Utilizing a suitable sewage sludge disintegration plant can remedy deficiencies in an easy and rapid way. Sewage Sludge Disintegration – A New Technology for Improvement of Digesters Generally, disintegration means the crushing (or: reducing) of sewage sludge by exposure to external forces. This happens e.g. by mechanical, thermal or chemical processes. The use of ultrasound (mechanical sewage sludge disintegration) has proved to be successful in science as well as in practice. It is reliable, economic and easy to be integrated in the process of a wastewater treatment plant.

Disc Pastillator
The Disc Pastillator, or pelletizing disc, is used to create pastilles. Pastillizing is the process whereby a liquid product is congealed into pastilles. The molten product is dosed via a stationary dosing head placing pastilles onto an intermittent rotating disc. The moment that the product hits the disc it starts to congeal. The process of dosing, congealing and pastillizing is completed in less than one rotation. The result is easily transportable pastilles, perfectly uniform in shape and quality. The concept of the GMF-Gouda Disc Pastillator has various functional advantages: The compact vertical construction requires little floor space; A completely closed cooling-water circuit rules out the possibility of the product coming into contact with the coolant; A gastight process space makes the machine especially suitable for processing poisonous, oxidising, hygroscopic and bad smelling products; The Disc Pastillator has a modular construction making it easily expandable for increased capacity.
Recycling
Because of the EISENMANN policy, reduction and recycling are preferred to disposal, and circulation techniques have priority over waste water treatment. With EISENMANN’s experience in production processes, all options for water saving and water recycling are checked and already incorporated in the design phase. By integration of an evaporator in a pretreatment line zero discharge operation can be achieved. Because waste water no longer discharges into the sewer, a whole series of official regulations and controls are eliminated. Another example of an optimum combination of economy and ecology is the two-step membrane process for printing ink recycling. The wash water from production has traditionally been treated by coagulation, creating a sludge that had to be disposed of. With the recycling process developed by EISENMANN, the ink containing wash water is treated by ultrafiltration so that the printing ink is recovered and can be reused. The second step, the nanofiltration, removes the trace organic substances and heavy metals from the filtrate of the ultrafiltration. The nanofiltrate can then be reused for cleaning or discharged into the sewer. The example described shows that the combination of recovery of valuable substances and waste water treatment leads, even for environmental plants, to interesting amortisation periods.
Thermal and regenerative oxidation RTO and adsorption technology
The Right Technology for Every Use: Thermal Treatment or Adsorption Thermal and regenerative oxidation RTO and adsorption technology are the major methods of exhaust air purification. The decision what method constitutes the most economical solution in each individual case is determined by the following factors: the exhaust air volume, type and concentration of the emitted pollutants, exhaust air temperature, the value of the recovered materials, and especially whether the released energy can be directly recycled into the production process. Thermal Treatment The fastest and safest method to eliminate volatile organic pollutants is oxidation. In this process, the polluted air is heated to the point where the majority of the organic materials oxidize into water and carbon dioxide. Recuperative Thermal Oxidation In cases where the excess energy can be recovered and reused in the production process, recuperative oxidation is unbeatable. This process is known to be robust, safe and universally applicable.

Flash Mix, Flocculation, and Sedimentation Combined in a Single Tank Solids-Contact Reactor-Clarifier™ units are designed and built to provide the most economical solution to precipitation and clarification requirements. The basic machine design provides for flash mix, coagulation, flocculation, solids recirculation, clarification, and positive sludge removal in a single basin - eliminating the need for multiple tanks and associated piping and pumping. All units are backed by over 50 years experience in engineering and manufacturing assuring the best fit to unique plant requirements. Reactor-Clarifier™ units are used for softening, turbidity removal, and taste and odor removal applications. Reactor-Clarifier™ units combine a large diameter, slow speed concentric turbine generating high volume internal recirculation to promote mixing, flocculation and solids-contact. The recirculation system is designed to promote particle growth and improve the removal of suspended solids. Raw influent immediately contacts a large volume of dense floc from previously precipitated solids in the recirculation drum and is pumped upward by the turbine. Depending on the application, a volume of 8 to 20 times the maximum influent rate is recirculated by the turbine to mix with new incoming feed, while the final effluent passes under the reaction cone to the clarification zone. Heaviest particles settle to the floor where they are raked to the center for recirculation or discharge. Types of Reactor-Clarifier™ Units HRB - For mechanisms up to 120 feet in diameter, this mechanism is supported by a bridge which spans the tank. HRC - For mechanisms from 50 to 200 feet diameter and larger, the HRC units are supported by a stationary center column, mounted to the tank bottom RCM - Alternate design using a propeller mixer for liquid recirculation. Available in both bridge-mounted and center-supported units
Flare installations
According to the Dutch Emission regulations 'NeR' biogas and landfill gas should be flared using either an open or closed flare system.
GTP-filter
When biogas is produced in a digester, it is always wet and dirty. Before it can be utilized in a gas engine, it has to be cleaned and water has to be removed.
Total contaminant removal system (TCR)
Removing Siloxanes and other contaminants is essential when purifying landfill gas, digester gas and biogas for use as an efficient energy source. Many consumer and industrial products (deodorants, shampoos, shaving creams, sealant etc.) use siloxanes as dispersion agent. By way of industrial and residential discharges, siloxanes are introduced into sewage and landfills.
