The government of Ukraine has approved the country's updated Energy Strategy until 2030. The planned share of renewables in the energy balance was not specified. However, the March 2013 draft indicated that this share could reach 18% by 2030 (and 10% of the power mix). Nuclear share should remain stable at 50%, due to the completion of two units at Khmelnytsky and the construction of three new reactors.
The government has also announced in a separate decision that Ukraine would switch to new fuel standards, adopting the Euro-3, Euro-4 and Euro-5 fuel standards. This would not affect the Shebelynka gas refining plant, which would not be stopped.
