Projects in Serbia will continue to be supported by the European Investment Bank to the same extent as in years past, EIB representatives announced March 9, newswires reported. The bank has approved approximately EUR700m to Serbia each year.
EIB vice president Dario Scannapieco told a news conference that the bank would focus on financing the construction of a highway in pan-European Corridor 10, the Belgrade beltway, SME's and scientific research and development.
In 2011, Serbia withdrew two-thirds of the total amount of EIB loans withdrawn in the West Balkans, Scannapieco said, adding that Serbia's 2011 contracts with the EIB were worth EUR711m, of which it had utilized EUR576m.
