The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) along with the European Union (EU) Cohesion Fund are maintaining their initiatives to modernise in addition to upgrading the water and wastewater services in Romania. The EBRD is advancing a new RON 28 .6 million (€6 .4 million ) loan to SC Apa Canal Ilfov SA, a local business providing water and wastewater services in Ilfov County, situated in southeastern Romania, which surrounds the capital Bucharest. Combined with EU funds, the loan will co-finance the company’s RON 308.4 million (€68.5 million ) regional investment strategy authorized by the EU under Romania’s Cohesion Fund Programme.
