Hungary's state secretary for foreign affairs and external economic relations Péter Szijjártó was in Seoul on Friday the 11th of October to discuss opportunities to develop bilateral business enterprise partnerships as well as further explore South Korean investment projects in Hungary.
Following his negotiations, Szijjártó stated that South Korean businesses will shortly launch healthcare and car manufacturing schemes in Hungary , however he added that the deals will not be named until the projects are officially announced.
Szijjártó met Han Jin-hyun, the deputy minister of trade, energy, and industry, and Cho Tae-yul, the deputy foreign minister, along with senior officials of 6 large companies. South Korea's investment in Hungary totals roughly $2 billion, represented by 40 Korean companies, which employ 22,000 .
Apart from encouraging further Korean investment, it will be a high priority for the Hungarian government to boost collaboration between small - medium-sized companies (SME's) of the 2 countries, Szijjártó stated. An agreement, signed with the Korean deputy minister for industry, aims to assist medium-sized Korean companies get started with operations in Hungary and to help them to become suppliers to the larger firms, he stated.
