Greenfacts.org: Scientific Facts on Air Pollution
Ambient air quality in Europe has improved in several respects during the last decades of the 20th century, however, current levels of air pollution still affect public health. Air pollution can cause respiratory diseases and reduce life expectancy.

UNECE Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections (TFEIP)
The Task Force on Emission Inventories and Projections develops the EMEP emission inventory, based on emission data from Parties, and provides a technical forum and expert network to harmonize emission factors, establish methodologies for the evaluation of emission data and projections and identify problems related to emission reporting.

European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change
European Topic Centres are centres of thematic expertise contracted by the European Environment Agency (EEA) to carry out specific tasks identified in the EEA strategy.
The European Topic Centre on Air and Climate Change (ETC/ACC) assists the EEA in its support to EU policy in the field of air pollution and climate change. The ETC/ACC is a consortium of European institutes with PBL as its lead organisation.
The ETC/ACC reports on the progress of EU enviromental policy on air quality, air emission and climate change issues. It participates in European Environmental Outlook reports of the EEA, it collects data concerning the current state of the environment and further harmonises European monitoring networks and reporting obligations.

EMEP (European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme)
EMEP (European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme) is a scientifically based and policy driven programme under the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution for international co-operation to solve transboundary air pollution problems.
This website is intended to facilitate the understanding and accessibility of the information compiled under the Co-operative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe (EMEP). The operational objectives and needs of the programme are presented here together with updated EMEP data on the European regional air quality concerning acidification, eutrophication, ground level ozone, heavy metals, persistent organic compounds and atmospheric particles. We hope you will find it useful !
