Water-quality improvement projects start in Hungary in ten municipalities in southern Tolna province

The Del-Tolna Aqua Development project started in mid-August 2013 in southern Tolna region . The venture involves building work including water-quality upgradings in ten towns . This will cost HUF 1 .5bn ( €5 .2m ) , of which the investor , Southern-Tolna Municipal Association , is benefiting from EU finances in the sum of HUF 1 .22bn ( €4m ) . Two brand new central water treatment plants shall be built , the 1st in Bataszek while the next one will be built in Decs .

The purpose of the project would be to decrease the ammonia , iron , and manganese content of the treated water . Clean , processed drinking water is going to be transported via a modernised pipeline system to additional municipalities , such as Alsonyek , Porboly , Bata , Ocseny , Sarpilis , Vardomb , Alsonana , and Szalka . The modernisation of the pipeline system is additionally part of the undertaking in addition to an expansion to the network with the building of 28 km of brand-new pipelines . The main contractor is the consortium Del-Tolna Aqua . The finish work is planned for June 2014 .
