The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has invited applications for the construction of water supply and sewerage networks at Agdash, Azerbaijan. A $300m second tranche of a multitranche investment programme will fund the construction of Agdash water supply networks. Approved by the bank in the last month, the second tranche worth $300m will improve water and sanitation services in Agdash, Goychay, Nakhchivan and Beylagan. The tender includes construction of two artesian wells, two reservoirs, a 134,000m water distribution network, reconstruction of 107,000m² of roads and connecting homes, including the supply and installation of 7,600 sets of water metres. The tender also covers the construction of 121,000m of sewage networks, 1,416 sets of manholes, restoration of 110 000m² of roads and 5,250 sets of connections. Through the proposed improvement project, water supply and sewerage services will be improved in Azerbaijan, and the project is expected to take 548 days to carry out these works. The State Committee will seek the applications until 30 March 2012, and the cost of taking part in the tender is $130. In 2004, the ADB provided a $30m loan for a project, valued at $39.9m, to restore the water supply system in Goychay and Nakhchivan. Due to the rising costs of the project approved five years ago and for the full scope of work in these areas the bank allocated $75m of multitranche financing (MFF) and the Government of Azerbaijan allocated $25m. The MFF was approved by the board of directors at the bank in September 2009 to the sum of $600m, local newsite Trend said. The bank intends to approve the third tranche of $175m on 31 December 2012. |
