The EU will grant up to € 80 million of funding to construct a Liquefied natural gas terminal in Poland the Eu commission has stated. The Project will be developed by the Polish state owned firm Polskie LNG.
The investment will reduce Poland’s dependencies in Gas supplies from Russia .The European investment will finance the construction, engineering, the implementation of two Hugh LNG Storage tanks and the Port berth of the LNG infrastructure in Swinoujscie in the Northwest of Poland which is close to the border of Germany.
The construction and completion of the LNG project is expected in 2014 and will deliver a initial capacity of 5 billion cubic meters of gas a year and will meet 33% of Poland’s gas consumption.
