Germany-based ABM Greiffenberger, specialized in developing and manufacturing high quality electric motors and gear boxes, will open a new plant in Lublin. The company has already signed a lease agreement for production, warehouse and office space in Wikana Biznes Park. Cushman & Wakefield, a leading global real estate services firm, has coordinated the whole negotiation process.
Dr Krzysztof Żuk, President of Lublin, said: “I strongly believe that the ABM Greiffenberger’s investment in Lublin will contribute to the economic development of the city and the region. The company is a reputable innovative supplier to a number of important industries, and we are happy that ABM Greiffenberger has decided to locate its plant in our city. There is 60 hectares of available land within Special Economic Zone EURO-PARK Mielec, subzone Lublin suitable for investment. We are committed to continuing development of the city’s infrastructure capacity, which will help attract further investors.”
ABM Greiffenberger is one of the world’s leading suppliers of sophisticated, high-performing solutions in drive technology, producing around 300.000 drive units per year. The company currently operates three production plants and has subsidiaries as well as partners in all important industrial nations. Besides segments such as hoisting technology and forklift trucks in which ABM has been active for several decades already, for the past 15 years special emphasis has been put on areas especially addressing environmental technology and energy efficiency. Examples include e-mobility, warehousing logistics, drive solutions for bio-mass heating systems, and transmissions for windpower plants. ABM Greiffenberger is part of Greiffenberger AG, a family-led industrial holding company operating successfully worldwide in drive technology, metal band saw blades & precision strip steel, and pipeline renovation technology. Greiffenberger AG has been publicly quoted since 1986 and employs around 970 employees worldwide. In 2012, the Greiffenberger Group generated revenues of € 158 m.
ABM Greiffenberger intends to create around 120 jobs in Poland. Opening of the plant in Lublin is scheduled at the end of 2013. In Lublin, ABM Greiffenberger plans to integrate services into its own value chain that until now have mainly been bought-in and will have the new plant carry out selected production steps and an electric motor assembly that is currently done at its Plauen site.
