Hungarian-owned Hydro Power Consulting will soon start building a HUF 2.7 billion hydroelectric station on the Hármas-Kőrös River near Bekésszentandrás (SE Hungary), spokesman Gabor Veres told MTI on Friday.
Hydro Power Consulting has won a HUF 1 billion grant from the Environmental and Energy Operative Program for the investments, Veres said. The rest of the money will come from the company's owners - all private individuals - and bank loans, he added.
Work on the two-turbine station will start in June and it is expected to be completed by the autumn of 2012. The station will generate 8.6 GWh a year.
Hydro Power Consulting calculates it will recoup the investment within 15 years.
The company inaugurated a similar power station on the Raba River earlier, and it wants to put one on the Hernád River too.
