EBRD invests 25mn euros in SE European energy efficiency projects

Balkans.com Correspondent in Tirana - 21.12.2009The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD ) is contributing 25 million euros to projects under the newly established Southeast Europe Energy Efficiency Fund (SE4F), which aims to reduce energy intensity in the region and boost energy security.
With total funding of 95 million euros, SE4F was set up by the European Investment Bank (EIB), Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), and the European Union, EBRD (www.ebrd.com) said in a statement. EIB and KfW are also each investing 25 million euros, and the EU's executive Commission nearly 20 million euros. The founding institutions aim to increase the fund’s size to 400 million euros by attracting additional monies from public and private sector investors. SE4F will invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, especially by small and medium-sized enterprises and households in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
