Polish plastics waste recycler IMP Polowat is investing more than €4m to establish a recycling plant to produce PET granulate flakes in Swidnica, Poland.
Bielsko Biala-based Polowat, formed in 2000 by Italian polyester and non-wovens to construction firm Industrie Maurizio Peruzzo Group, will set up the new unit on a 2.6 hectare site in the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone Invest-Park in Swidnica.
The plant, its third PET bottle recycling facility in Poland, is expected to be completed by June 2010. Polowat already manufactures PET flake at a plant in Bielsko-Biala capable of processing 18,000 tpa of post consumer PET bottles. The company also runs a smaller 14,000 tpa bottle branch recycling unit launched in Leczyca last year.
High quality flake from the Polish operations is exported mainly to customers in the polyester fibre production industry. Sister IMP companies already located in Swidnica include IMP Comfort and IMP Ovatex – both producers of non-woven wadding and felts for the automotive sector.
Industrie Maurizio Peruzzo Group of Carmignano di Brenta, Italy owns a second PET bottle recycling business, Valplastic close to its headquarters which can handle up to 24,000 tpa of plastic bottles.
