The Polish government has approved a Zloty 1.5 billion four-year program to support investments in renewable energy and co-generation.
The government stated, that the 2009-2012 program would finance the construction or modernisation of co-generation projects of at least 50 MW of capacity and development of renewable energy projects totalling 300 MW.
The program will support wind farm, geothermal, hydropower and biomass projects of not less than 5 MWe in capacity. Investors will be able to take advantage of long term loans of up to Zloty 50 million to cover 75% of their project’s eligible costs.
Poland has to increase its share of energy produced from renewable sources from currently 7% to 15% by 2020, according to the target set by the European Commission.
