The objection of the European Union is to build a strong and stable community that would include Serbia and the neighboring countries as soon as possible, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert stated at the ceremony marking Europe Day, May 9, which was held in the Yugoslav Drama Theatre building.
Pointing that over the past few years, visible changes have been noted in character and intensity of relations between the EU and Serbia, Degert reminded the visa regime was liberalized, the trade agreement came into force and that the country acquired the EU candidate status. He stated that Brussels and Belgrade will work together on fulfilling the goal, that is, Serbia's full-fledged EU membership. The ceremony was attended by the state leadership, party leaders, representatives of religious communities and diplomatic corps, and prominent public figures.
