Dalkia Energia revenue falls but operating profit rises

District heating and electricity supplier Dalkia Energia's revenue fell 3% to HUF 47.6 billion in 2009, but operating profit climbed 11% to HUF 5.55 billion, the company told MTI.

Dalkia Energia sold HUF 5,438 TJ of heat energy in 2009, about the same as in 2008. Its electricity sales fell 7.5% to 886 GWh, declining at about the same rate as the economy as a whole. E

lectricity sales generated 52% of revenue in 2009.

Corporate heating contracts accounted for 21% of revenue and district heating contracts with retail and institutional consumers for 14%. Facility management activities generated 13% of revenue. Dalkia Energia has three gas- and biomass-fueled power plants in Hungary. Dalkia Energia is a unit of Electricite de France and Veolia Environment.

It employs 750 people in Hungary.
