Austrian-owned BNRG Kft plans to build a 15-megawatt biogas-fuelled power plant outside Vép, west Hungary, daily Napi Gazdaság reports.

BNRG will spend some HUF 14 billion on the facility, which will be designed to produce electricity as well as biofuel.

The company also has plans for a 19.9-megawatt biomass-fuelled plant worth about HUF 17 billion to be located in nearby Táplánszentkereszt. The plant will use about 125,000 tons of forestry raw and waste material a year for production.

The second project has already won environmental clearance and the local government's go-ahead.
