Ukraine has started the construction of a 353-km long transmission line, with a capacity of 750 kV, which will be competed in 2014. It is aimed at improving electricity supply to central Ukraine, Kyiv and Odessa, and will enable to operate fully the Rivnenska and Khmelnytska power plants in western Ukraine (up to 5,000 MW under-utilised due to limited transmission capacities).
The €400m project was financed by a €300m loan from the EBRD and by NPC Ukrenergo (€100m).
