Probably biggest shale gas deposit in Poland so far have been discovered near Kutno, daily Rzeczpospolita reported.
Polish gas giant PGNiG in cooperation with American firm FX Energy will start shale gas drillings in this area in August, and expects to get to know the actual volume of the gas deposit there roughly in a year's time, other daily Parkiet writes citing PGNiG exploration department head Piotr Gliniak.
The Kutno-region deposit may amount to 100 bcm of gas, according to conservative estimates by an unnamed expert quoted by the daily. The Kutno license is owned by PGNiG and FX Energy in 50:50 proportion, with the American firm acting as the license operator and PGNiG as its manager.
